DOPI TV ANNOUNCEMENT

Nov 2011

Dear Customers

Firstly, we would like to thank you very much for your patience over the last couple of months or so.  We also wanted to assure you that the system changes we needed to make were absolutely necessary given the major problems we had been having from our satellite service provider.  These problems manifested themselves by causing the extensive freezing problems on the system as you will all be aware.

We can now confirm that we are in the final stages of system reconfiguration based on a new Turkish mainland service provider providing the very latest hardware and software technology through us to you, our Customers.

We would like to give you a little  background on what was causing our problems, and what steps we are taking to try and ensure that we can provide you with a much more stable and flexible system for the future.

1.      “The past”

Our previous satellite service provider has been providing the service to DOPI through a single satellite that was fast becoming obsolete.  As a result we have found that our ability to provide a good service to you was being increasingly compromised by the technology problems our provider was experiencing.

Unfortunately, our contract was with only the one provider and the costs they were quoting to us to upgrade the link here within the TRNC were absolutely prohibitive.  Of major importance to us was also that we were not convinced that they would deliver the level of service we fundamentally require to provide a satisfactory service to our users..

2.      The future

As previously stated, we have now entered into a contract with a mainland Turkey technology company specialising in the provision of the latest hardware and software technologies we need for our requirements both today and into the future.

The agreement we have signed with this company provides for the provision of five different satellite links.  This will provide the in built system redundancy and back up we have not been able to obtain from our previous provider.

The net affect of these changes will mean that, if we do experience problems with one satellite link, DOPI technical services will have the ability to switch the system to another one of the four remaining satellites with the minimum of delay.  This will go a long way to alleviate the performance issues we have experienced over extended periods in the past.

This new technology agreement will not only support the current systems you already have but  in addition prepare the way for the new advanced services we are providing such as HD (High Definition) plus full internet support which will provide many additional popular channels.

We have also made a decision that we must never again rely on a single service provider as in the past thus “putting all our eggs in one basket”. As a result of this decision, the internet support route is being provided by a different mainland Turkish company.  This will have a significant and extremely important additional benefit by providing customers with the ability to switch to the internet mode in the event of any major failure of the satellite driven system or vice versa.

The support of these new features will require the latest, advanced “receiver box” and a minimum of a 1 m/bit internet link.  Fortunately, the majority of our customers already have the required internet support.  However, in the event that they do not, DOPI can provide this through the partnership we have with a major provider of networks within the TRNC.

The HD feature provides for full HD support at 1080 pxls and includes the ability to have the full range of multi media support including both the recording and viewing of programs direct from your TV via the use of memory sticks/flash drives. A full interactive link with your own PC is available to you allowing you to move files to and from your computer.

3.      Value for money

We sincerely believe that the DOPI approach provides you with great “value for money”.  The TV system we supply is made up from six or seven satellite TV providers very known ones and ext.

Any Satellite TV viewer can of course individually license the feeder packages DOPI utilise.  However, if you were to compare the total cost of licensing these packages at an individual level the cost would be in excess of £3000 per annum!  One of the major popular packages alone will cost viewers around £1300 per annum and there are other more expensive ones…….

Having said that, the DOPI offering will never be able to provide the 100% performance guarantees given the system approach we have to take to share licenses amongst all our customers.  We are convinced though, that the new approach we have now taken will very significantly improve on the performance you have been experiencing over the last year or so.

DOPI with its new advanced satellite box is offering significantly more HD channels than any other single service provider. These HD channels range from sport to movies to documentaries plus others.  The unique DOPI approach we have adopted with the hybrid/Internet switching approach is very much the way of the future.

We sincerely hope that you will agree with and support the way we have reacted to your requirements for an extensive program offering, which when allied to the resiliency we have built into our new, advanced systems, is the best “value for money” system available within the TRNC today.

DOPI would like to stress that it will continue to support your existing satellite boxes for the foreseeable future   However, we would urge you to consider the upgrade to the HD box at some time in the future so that you will be able to take advantage of the many new facilities that can never be available on the older generation systems.

Very best regards from all at DOPI TV
